David broke the 100-yard receiving mark 15 times during his career, including four of 200 yards or more. He caught 11 passes for 270 yards and three TDs in the 2002 National Championship game, all championship game single-game records. His last reception went for 10 yards and proved to be the game-winning touchdown that led the Lakers to their first National Championship. Kircus was a consensus All-American during the 2001 and 2002 football campaigns, while also earning GLIAC Offensive Back of the Year honors.
