Claudette Charney played her senior season of basketball at GVSU in 1979-80 and ran track in 1980 and 1981. She was among the state's leaders in scoring (19.8) and rebounding (10.8) in her senior season and was the second woman in Michigan to score over 2000 points in her collegiate career. Claudette was All Great Lakes Conference and the first female athlete at GVSU to win Academic All America honors by her selection to the GTE-CoSIDA Second Team in 1980. She also set 100 and 200 Meter records (outdoor) in Track and Field at GVSU. Claudette is the current Head Women's Basketball Coach at Saginaw Valley State.
