Kim Hansen, was the first GVSC woman basketball player to be selected to an All-American team. She was named Female Athlete of the Year at GVSC in 1978-79. She was also named to the 1978-79 American Women's Foundation College Division second team. She was drafted in the second round by the San Francisco Pioneers of the Women's Basketball League and later traded to Minneapolis.
She lettered four years in basketball and three in volleyball. In basketball she scored 1,971 points and her 1,382 rebounds at the time were more than any other woman in the State of Michigan. She set 21 basketball records at GVSC.
