Rob Rubick was initially a football walk-on from Newberry, Michigan. He became a Grand Valley State University starter at tight end during his freshman year. Rob played on the Laker's 1978 and 1981 GLIAC championship teams and in the 1978 NAIA Division I Football Championship Playoffs. He was the Laker career reception leader, catching 80 passes for 1,455 yards and 6 TD's. Rob was named to the 1981 All-GLIAC Football Team. A 12th round draft pick in 1981, he went on to play seven years in the National Football League with the Detroit Lions. Rob is one of six children of Lawrence and Celeste Rubick. He married the former Deborah Fegan of Pinconning and they now reside in Oxford. Rob has just received his teaching certificate and hopes to teach and coach in the Oxford area.
