Tom Beck guided the Lakers on the gridiron for six seasons (1985-90). Beck led GVSU to a 50-18 overall record during his tenure, including a 29-7 GLIAC/MIFC record. Grand Valley State claimed two league titles (1989-90) and made two appearances in the NCAA Division II Playoffs. Beck's winning percentage of .735 still stands as the all time best in Laker annals. His 1989 squad was the first in Laker football history to go undefeated in the regular season (11-0). In addition, Beck guided Grand Valley State to a school-record 22-game regular season winning streak that spanned over three season that still stands.
