Sabrina Bird is among the all-time greats in the long and storied history of Grand Valley State volleyball. Bird was a key figure during a four-year span in which the Laker volleyball program turned the corner and became a fixture at the NCAA DII Elite Eight. During her career, Grand Valley State turned in an overall record of 120-20, including four NCAA DII Elite Eight appearances and three trips to the Final Four. In addition, the Lakers won three GLIAC North Division Championships and two GLIAC Tournament crowns. Bird was a force in the middle for GVSU and ranks fourth all-time in block assists with 360 and eighth in total blocks with 417. Bird tallied 988 kills, 194 digs and 172 service aces which ranks ninth all-time. Her 153 block assists in 2003 remains a single-season record. A two-time All-GLIAC performer, Bird turned in a stellar senior season when she was selected as the GLIAC Player of the Year en route to earning AVCA All-Midwest Region and third-team AVCA All-America honors. Bird recorded 466 kills, 177 total blocks, 95 digs, 92 service aces and had an attack percentage of .355 during that senior campaign. Sabrina was also tabbed as the GLIAC Player of the Week four times during her career.
