Jason Trice was a player ahead of his time in terms of high flying offensive production. A three-year standout performer on the gridiron for the Lakers, Trice led the team in receptions and receiving yards for three consecutive years. He pulled down 47 catches for 521 yards as a sophomore, followed by a junior campaign in which he hauled in 62 catches for 853 yards and seven TDs. As a senior, Trice caught 63 passes for 960 yards and eight TDs. A two-time, First-Team All-GLIAC honoree, Trice tallied five 100-yard receiving games during this career. His 173 career catches rank second all-time, while his receiving yards total of 2,344 ranks fifth all-time in the record books. Grand Valley State was 34-11 during his career with two Midwest Intercollegiate Football Conference titles. The 1998 Laker football team advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs. Trice teamed with current Laker Hall of Famer Jeff Fox in creating an excitement in Laker football that has stood the test of time.
