Jeanine DeLano Cooper became Grand Valley's first volleyball All-American in 1985, when she earned Honorable Mention honors from the CVCA. She was an All-Region selection in 1985 and 1986, and was named All-GLIAC the same two seasons. Cooper was captain of GVSU's 1986 team, which earned a 42-7 record, won the GLIAC Championship, and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament.Â
  Cooper competed at Grand Valley from 1983 through 1986. The Lakers earned a combined record of 142-39 (.785) during her four years, and won five tournaments, including the prestigious Can-Am Tournament. Cooper still holds the GVSU season record for matches played (49), and previously held records for games played in a season (144) and career assists (4,241).Â
