Grand Valley State men's basketball standout Ed Crisman, who was a part of the Lakers' first three men's basketball teams, was a key contributor to the building of the GVSU men's basketball tradition. Ed was the Lakers' first 1,000-point scorer and finished his career with 1,112 points, a total that still ranks 27th all-time in GVSU annals. Ed converted 45.1 percent of his field goals and 65.1 percent of his free throws during a career in which he averaged 17.7 points per game. Crisman averaged a career-high 20.3 points during the 1966-67 season and is one of seven players to average over 20.0 points per game for a season. Ed hit 48.7 percent of his field goals and 77.8 percent of his free throws during his senior season when he averaged 19.4 points per game.
