Bob Conser (1968-71) was a two-sport standout for the GVSU, excelling both on the hardwood and the baseball diamond. On the hardwood, Conser scored 1,279 points in 95 career games. His 13.5 points per game average ranks 13th all-time in Laker annals. He averaged a career-best 17.9 points and 6.9 rebounds and set the GVSU record for consecutive free throws made (27) en route to earning All-NAIA Honorable Mention plaudits during the 1970-71 campaign. In addition, Conser was a four-year letterwinner on the diamond as a pitcher and shortstop. He notched the first-ever shutout in Laker baseball history, notching a 2-0 win over Aquinas in 1969. He led the team in at bats (79) and runs scored (19), while picking up five saves on the mound and notching a GVSU single-season best 0.47 ERA as a junior in 1971.
