Diane Miller was one of the pioneer athletes at Grand Valley who played more than one sport. She won seven varsity letters in basketball and softball from 1975-78.
    Of her seven teams, they posted a 157-43 record and won six Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles. Miller started at short-stop for four seasons and still holds Grand Valley career records for best batting average (.404) and slugging percentage (.606).
    Known as an outstanding fielder, Miller hit .455 in 1977. The Marlette native played guard on some of the finest basketball teams in GV history, scoring 353 career points. She was named Outstanding Female Athlete at Grand Valley in 1978.
    Miller also competed in the 1984 Boston Marathon.
