Jeremy Pearson was a three-time NCAA Division II All-American for the Lakers and was one of the first performers to compete on the national level. Pearson earned NCAA DII All-America honors at the 1999 National Championships with a sixth-place finish in which he cleared 6-11. During the 2000 campaign Pearson went to the next level and established himself as the top high jumper in the history of GVSU track program. Jeremy won the 2000 GLIAC Championship with a jump of 6-11 and went on to earn All-America honors for a second time when he cleared 6-11 again and finished second at the NCAA DII Indoor National Championships. During that 2000 campaign, Pearson set the GVSU indoor record with a jump of 7-0.5, followed by an outdoor jump that cleared 7-2 to set the GVSU outdoor mark. Pearson earned All-GLIAC honors again in 2001 and qualified for the 2001 NCAA DII National Championships where he just missed out on a fourth NCAA DII All-America honor with a ninth-place finish.
