Todd Jager was the head athletic trainer at Grand Valley State in job title, but everyone associated with Laker athletics, inside and out, knew he was much more. Friend, caregiver, mentor and teacher are just a few words that begin to describe Todd. He was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the GVSU athletic training department that oversees more than 500 student-athletes. On an individual basis however, he did so much more for those surrounding and associated with Grand Valley State. Todd was a wonderful husband and father, in addition to being a tireless worker. He volunteered his services to numerous groups and organizations, always lending a helping hand. Todd was a well-respected professional in athletic training and he mentored a large number of students that are now performing the tools of the trade learned from him. Todd lost a 19-month battle with brain cancer January 18, 2007.
