Kristen Campbell was a member of Grand Valley State's first-ever varsity swimming & diving teams from 1984 to 1988. Campbell, who compiled a 50-21 record in dual meet competition, was GVSU's first NCAA Division II National Championship qualifier in diving. She accomplished the feat during her freshman and sophomore campaigns. Kristen, who set 12 diving records during her four-year career, still holds the freshman record for the three-meter dual meet and championship score. In addition, she holds the varsity record for the three-meter championship meet score and the GVSU pool record for the three-meter championship meet score.
Campbell, who was named the Grand Valley State women's swimming & diving Most Valuable athlete in 1985, was also elected the team co-captain during the 1987-88 campaign. Kristen excelled academically as well, making the Dean's List five semesters.
