Hall of Fame
The third most prominent long distance shooter in GVSU basketball history, Erika Ryskamp is one of just three Laker women’s basketball players to total over 1,400 points and 350 assists in her career. In four seasons, Erika knocked down 223 three-pointers, which has only been outdone by two players - male or female - in Grand Valley State history. Ryskamp was a starting guard on the 2005-06 Lakers, which rattled off 22 consecutive wins, the last of which was a 58-52 victory over American International in the Division II National Championship game. During that season, Erika averaged 11.2 points per game, tied her own school record with 67 three-points, and passed for 138 assists. Her game-high 22 points in the 76-63 Final Four victory over Chico State helped push GVSU into its first ever National Championship appearance. Erika finished her career with 1,409 points from 2004 to 2007, at the time the fifth-most in program history and still the seventh-highest total by a Laker. Ryskamp also ranked second in career three-pointers, three-point percentage (39.3), games played (120), fifth in steals (198), sixth in assists (359), and 10th in made free throws (276). Erika was a three-time member of the All-GLIAC North Division Second Team and the GLIAC All-Defensive Team, while GVSU went 93-32 in her career with a pair of trips to the NCAA Elite Eight.Â
