Ronald Velthouse played baseball at GVSU and had a career batting average of .386 including eight home runs and 64 RBIs. Velthouse was GVSU's first baseball All-American, winning All-NAIA honorable mention honors in 1972. As a right fielder, he led the Lakers in batting all four years (1969-1972) hitting a record .476 in 1969. Ron also earned honors on the NAIA District 23 Team, All-City College Team and the Topps All-District Team. Currently, Ron works for the Grandville Public Schools as a teacher.
