Despite playing for the Laker baseball program for just two years, Dustin Vugteveen ranks among the all-time leaders in every offensive statistical category. Dustin ranks among the all-time leaders in 14 single-season and career categories. As a sophomore in 2000, Vugteveen hit .395 with 66 hits, 43 runs scored, 60 RBI and 13 home runs. He followed that incredible sophomore season with a junior campaign that ranks among the all-time best in GLIAC history. Dustin hit .414 with 70 hits, 59 runs scored, 58 RBI and 19 home runs. Vugteveen tallied a .405 career batting average with 136 hits, 102 runs scored, 118 RBI and 32 home runs. His single-season home run total of 19 (2001) and 13 (2000) top the GVSU charts as does his career-mark of 32. His 18 doubles in back-to-back season's ranks third all-time, while his 36 doubles is fifth all-time for a career. Dustin's RBI totals of 60 and 58 ranks third and fourth, respectively. Vugteveen was a two-time First-Team All-GLIAC honoree and earned GLIAC Player of the Year plaudits following his junior year in 2001.Â
