2013-14: During the indoor season, he competed in a number of events in the distance medley relay, 800 meter, and a part of the 4x400 meter team … At the Hillsdale Classic, he placed second in the distance medley relay with a time of 9:59.63 … At the GVSU 5-Way, he placed sixth in the 800 meter (1:53.32) and helped the 4x400 meter team to a fourth place finish (3:27.14) … At the 2014 GLIAC Indoor Championships, placed fifth in the 800 meter with a time of 1:54.01 …  Earned USTFCCCA All-American honors with a fifth-place finish in the distance medley relay with a time of 9:57.28.

College bests: 400m - 49.7; 800m - 1:50.38.

Prior to GVSU: Used four years of eligibility in outdoor track at Hope College...Two-time NCAA Division III All-American (2012 and 2013)...Two-time all-conference/conference champion in the 800 meters...Hope College and MIAA Conference record-holder in the 800 meter run (1:50.38)...Named 2013 Hope College Male Athlete of the Year and was co-captain of the team.

Personal: Son of Jan and Teresa Rietsema...Will be going for a master's in business administration at GVSU.
