GVSU wraps up weekend action, returns home next weekend

Men's 4x100m team continues to break school record

The Grand Valley State men's and women's track and field teams concluded weekend action on Saturday.  Teams returned from Ashland, Central Florida, Davenport and Hillsdale before competing at home next weekend.
 
Ashland Alumni Open
Hunter Harding finished eighth in the hammer throw invite with a 61.80m mark while Justin Scavarda swept the hammer throw field with a 59.73m distance.  Judith Essemiah claimed the third spot with a 56.67m launch.
 
Knights Invite
Upperclassmen Nicole Sreenan (200m; 24.17) and Jessica Eby (400H; 59.82) each finished fifth in their respective events, while Angelica Floyd ran an 11.85 second 100m dash and leaped 5.83m in the long jump.  The women's 4x100m relay team comprised of Ashley Perryman, Sreenan, Marcedes Chandler and Floyd (45.73) moved to the No. 4 program mark, while the 4x400m relay of Eby, Chandler, Taryn Chapko and Sreenan crossed the line in 3:45.41, good for third place. 
 
Calvin Hatcher (10.55; 21.67) and Jalen Kyles (10.59; 21.51) led the fast lane with third and fourth finishes in the 100m and 200m.  Both relay teams earned second place finishes, as the 4x100m team of Makiyah Smallwood, Hatcher, Antonio Passarelli and Kyles broke the school record for the second time this season with a 40.79 finish.  Jaylen Hasan, Jackson Blanchard, Myles Rhodes and Daniel Walker punched the No. 2 program 4x400m time with a finish of 3:10.65.  In the high jump, Eli Kosiba and Ryan Mount cleared the 1.99m bar, good for second and fourth place, respectively.
 
Panther Classic
In the 800m, Sydney Nesbitt (2nd; 2:20.12) and Molly Schmidt (4th; 2:26.82) finished within one another, while Analis Floyd swept the 400m competition (59.18) and took fourth in the 200m with a time of 26.13 seconds. 
 
Jenna Doyle collected the runner-up mark with a 1.56m clear in the high jump as Alessia Olhava and Tabor Gleason tied for fourth at 1.51m.  GVSU collected the top-five heights in the high jump, with Elli Kimes (4.05m) and Carly Livingston (3.95m) earned the top two.  In the hammer throw, Franesha Robinson-Mitchell earned the bronze with a 47.42m mark. 
 
On the men's side, Tyler Kirkwood took third in the 110H with a time of 14.86 seconds.  Brenden Faulkner (50.28; 400m), Clint Barnett (11.14; 100m) and Alexander Porter (54.20; 400H) each collected runner-up finishes.    
 
The men collected a handful of first-place finishes in the field events with Jacob Urban (javelin; 55.19m), Cameron Graziosi (high jump; 1.85m), Mac Mitchell (triple jump; 13.01m), Andrew Koenigscknecht (pole vault; 4.61m) and Myles Kerner (discus; 47.84m) sweeping their individual events.  Jacob Urban (hammer; 55.70m) and Kerner (shot put; 17.42m) collected runner-up marks. 
 
Gina Relays
Competing in the 3,000m steeplechase was Hannah Roeske (4th; 10:19.29), Kayce Rypma (7th; 10:44.65) and Natalie Graber (10th; 10:49.78) who earned provisional times.
