ALLENDALE, Mich. – Grand Valley State track and field welcomed more than 1200 athletes to Allendale for the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet, which will be renamed to honor longtime track and field supporters Rich and Linda Kanski. Through the weekend, 10 updates were made to the GVSU program record book, including one program record by Joshua Page.

Drake Relays - Results

The weekend began on Friday as three athletes raced in the 110m hurdles at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa while a handful of other Lakers competed at home.

Joshua Hurt and Dominic Downes both ran 14.16 and Parker Campbell crossed the finish line at 14.33 in the preliminary round of the 110m hurdles at Drake.

The sprints and hurdles crew shined on day two of competition, as well. Joshua Page unsurprisingly impressed. He ran a season-best 45.98 in the 400m to shatter Myles Rhodes's program record by 0.01 seconds and etch his name in the record books, yet again. The time ranks him No. 4 in NCAA Division II.

Page also ran in the 100m, finishing the sprint in 10.41 to place second. Sam Coyle ran a personal-best 10.49 in the event to rank No. 35 in NCAA DII and tie for No. 7 in program history.

In the women's event, Gianni Harris, Adalyn Liang and Zoe Zeiser ran personal-bests. Harris flew through the event, crossing the finish line at 11.55 – the new No. 9 in DII and second-best in program history. Liang finished at 11.75 to tie for fifth all-time and Zeiser crossed the finish line at 12.11.

Lakers saw success in the 200m, as well. Harris and Liang notched PRs again, with Harris completing the half-lap in 24.00 and Liang in 24.86. Harris's finish ties her previous PR to maintain her spot as No. 2 in program history and No. 24 in DII.

Coyle, Jason Hamilton II and Demarcus Chapa also run personal-best times in the 200m. Coyle led the crew, ranking No. 10 in NCAA DII with a finish at 20.84. Hamilton moved up in the division rankings and program record book with a finish at 21.01, putting him at No. 18 in DII and tying the freshman for seventh in program history. Chapa finished 11th overall with a personal-best finish at 21.49.

In addition to Page's record-breaking finish, Desmond Chapa, Ayden McCarey and Tanner Guczwa also ran personal-bests. Chapa was the first of the remaining three, crossing the finish line third overall at 47.86. He was followed by McCarey at 48.37 (fifth overall) and Guczwa at 49.15 (seventh overall).

Three bests were recorded during the 400m hurdles. Freshman Keira Zorski was the first to do so, crossing the finish line third overall at a personal-best 1:02.45. Lance Riddle ran a season-best in the event, breaking 53 seconds for the first time this season to rank No. 35 in the nation with a first-place finish at 52.85. Bester followed with a personal-best 54.33 time, ranking fourth overall.

Jackson Rodriguez and Owen Patton posted personal-bests in the men's 800m invitational, crossing the finish line at 1:52.42 and 1:53.05, respectively.

All three Lakers competing in the 3000m steeplechase posted a best finish. Drennan Akins finished first overall, crossing the finish line first overall at 9:06.02 to become the new No. 30 in NCAA DII. Kyler Dean was close behind, running a personal-best finish of his own at 9:16.85 (No. 51 NCAA DII). Gavin Borger rounded out the trio with a season-best 9:27.91 finish.

Maggie O'Malley was outstanding in the women's 10000m. Paced by her sister Klaudia, O'Malley crossed the finish line second overall with a personal-best finish at 34:46.54. The time not only qualifies her for competition at the national championships (No. 15 NCAA DII), but ranks her ninth in program history.

Brooke Bowers, Shaylee McCain, Dolan Gonzales, Brock Bryant, Ray Weatherington and Asher Paul all cleared personal-best bars in pole vault. Bowers became the new No. 1 in NCAA Division II with a season-best 4.26m (13-11.75) and McCain followed suit, clearing a personal-best 3.76m (No. 44 NCAA DII).

The men of GVSU showed out, as well. Gonzales cleared an outdoor personal-best bar of 5.23m (17-1.75), ranking No. 9 in NCAA DII and tying for No. 3 in program history. Bryant notched a PR, too, clearing 5.13m (16-10) to become the new No. 19 in DII and remain No. 9 at GVSU. Weatherington and Paul cleared a personal-best 4.83m (15-10) and 4.31m (14-1.75), respectively).

Four PR's were recorded through the men's and women's jumps events. Ben Rodenbaugh kicked things off with a 2.05m (6-8.75) bar in high jump (No. 32 NCAA DII). Lauren Rokos and Imogene Brumbaugh cleared personal-best bars of their own. Rokos became the new No. 19 in NCAA DII with a 1.70m (5-7) bar, tying her for seventh in program history. Brumbaugh cleared 1.67m (5-5.75), narrowly missing out on a spot in program history, but became the new No. 45 in NCAA DII, instead. Mason Floria found his PR in long jump, jumping for 6.70m (21-11.75) on his second attempt of the day.
