ALLENDALE, Mich. – In the final weekend ahead of postseason competition, Grand Valley State athletes have swept the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors. The honors were awarded to
Joshua Page and
Gianni Harris in track and
Dolan Gonzales and
Brooke Bowers in field.
Page was named Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week following a record-breaking weekend at GVSU's Extra Weekend Meet. The transfer from Tiffin University raced in the 100m, 400m and 4x100m events on Saturday afternoon. The record came in the second event. As he rounded the 400m track, Page was on track to shatter Grand Valley State's program record – a 45.99 finish recorded by
Myles Rhodes in May 2025. The Ohio native did just that on the final straightaway, crossing the finish line at 45.98 to break the Laker's program record by just 0.01 second. The finish ranks him fourth in NCAA Division II.
The Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor was awarded to freshman
Gianni Harris who also competed at home this weekend. The true freshman competed in the 100m and 200m events, setting or tying personal-best marks in both. She began with the 100m, flying through the race in 11.55 to rank second overall in the event. The mark ranks her second in program history and 14th in NCAA Division II. She raced in the 200m just a couple hours later and tied her personal-best time of 24.00. The finish maintains her spot as No. 2 in program history and No. 39 in DII.
Pole vaulters
Dolan Gonzales and
Brooke Bowers swept Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Gonzales earned the honor on the men's side with a personal-best outdoor bar in the event. The reigning indoor National Runner-Up entered competition at 4.98m (16-4), clearing the height on his first attempt. He progressed to 5.13m (16-10) and made that bar on his second attempt – a height that only two other competitors could clear. On his third attempt at a new personal-best, 5.23m (17-1.75), Gonzales cleared the bar to tie for third at Grand Valley State. The bar ranks him 10th in NCAA DII.
Bowers was named Women's Outdoor Athlete of the Week following a season-best performance at the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet. The sophomore pole vaulter entered competition at 4.06m (13-3.75), a mark that just one other athlete was able to attempt. She cleared this bar and the next (4.16m / 13-7.75) in two attempts. She moved on to 4.26m (13-11.75) in an attempt to achieve a new season-best bar. Bowers cleared this on her second attempt and effectively became the new No. 1 in NCAA Division II and No. 29 across all divisions.
