ALLENDALE, Mich. – Following Friday's action in the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships, the men stand atop the leaderboard with 26 points while the women rank second with 32 points. Both 3,000m steeplechase races saw the Lakers standing on the runner-up podium.Â

Hannah Roeske tallied eight points with a 3,000m steeplechase runner-up finish of 10:16.88, hitting a new personal best.Â
Taryn Chapko collected a spot in the 800m finals with a 2:10.16 preliminary time, while the 4x400m relay of
Jessica Eby,
Marcedes Chandler, Chapko and
Nicole Sreenan punched a ticket to the finals with a time of 3:46.89. Also earning a spot on the podium was
Emma Richards in the discus throw with a seventh-place launch of 47.43m.Â

On the men's side,
Caleb Futter collected the 3,000m steeplechase runner-up title with a thrilling come-from-behind finish of 8:54.94. In the men's 800m, three Lakers hit a qualifying mark for the finals, including
Dennis Mbuta (1:51.77),
Scott Spaanstra (1:52.00) and
John Groendyk (1:52.18). The 4x400m relay team comprised of
Jaylen Hasan,
Jackson Blanchard,
Myles Rhodes and
Daniel Walker will compete in tomorrow's finals after crossing the line in 3:13.73. Adding to the Laker leaderboard was
Justin Scavarda in the discus throw with a distance of 52.51m, good for sixth place on the national stage.Â
