Lakers break two records at Mike Lints Alumni Open

26 provisional marks were met; 2 automatic qualifications earned

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's and women's track and field teams concluded the Mike Lints Alumni Open with a pair of broken school records and a handful of NCAA Division II automatic and provisional qualifications. 
 
Nicole Sreenan continued to dominate the fast lane as she picked up an automatic qualification and school record in the 400m (53.47) and a provisional qualification in the 200m (24.01). Senior Angelica Floyd earned a provisional qualification in the 60m with a first-place finish of 7.59 seconds, while freshman Corrina Courser defeated the 60m hurdle competition with an 8.93 second finish. 
 
Reigning GLIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, Allie Ludge, proved her title as she collected an automatic qualification in the 3,000m with a first-place time of 9:28.96.  Sophomores Klaudia O'Malley (9:39.10; 3rd) and Lynsey Amthor (9:54.04; 6th) earned provisional marks in the 3,000m as well.  Junior Hannah Roeske made her Laker debut in the mile with a second-place finish of 4:50.77, good for a provisional qualification.  Also earning provisional marks in the mile were Olivia Brian (4:54.79; 4th) and Jessica Gockley (4:55.22; 6th). 
 
Two-time GLIAC Indoor Champion, Anna Obi, collected a first-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 11.40m.  In the pole vault, the Lakers earned three provisional marks from Kassidie Stimmel (3.90m; 3rd), Elli Kimes (3.90m; 4th) and Carly Livingston (3.75m; 5th).  GLIAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week, Judith Essemiah, threw for another provisional mark (19.15m; 3rd) in the weight throw, while Franesha Robinson-Mitchell earned a provisional qualification with a toss of 17.90m, good for 8th place. 
 
Redshirt senior Isaac Harding etched his name into Laker history with a 4:03.14 record-breaking finish in the mile, with junior Tanner Chada right on his heels (4:03.74; 2nd).  Jackson Blanchard earned a provisional mark in the 60m hurdles with an 8.18 first-place finish, while Jalen Kyles finished fourth in the 60m with a 6.98 dash.  Freshman Caleb Futter showed a promising 8:10.72 finish in the 3,000m, earning second place and a provisional qualification.  Dennis Mbuta (1:52.32; 1st) and John Groendyk (1:52.76; 2nd) finished one after another in the 800m.  Senior Ryan Mount and freshman Elijah Kosiba earned their second provisional marks of the season with clears of 2.06m, good for first and second place, respectively.  Marcus Lubbers cleared a first-place mark of 4.75m in the pole vault, while Chanse Setzke finished first in the long jump with a distance of 6.48m.  Justin Scavarda (19.88m), Hunter Harding (18.97m) and Leon White (18.46m) finished 4-5-6 in the weight throw with provisional qualifications.
 
The Lakers continue their homestand next Friday, Jan. 29 in the Bill Clinger Classic at 3 p.m.
