#39 Grand Valley State Drops 4-2 Decision to Detroit-Mercy

ORLANDO, Fla. - #39 Grand Valley State women's tennis dropped their second straight match on their Spring Break trip with a 4-2 loss to Detroit-Mercy of Division I at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in the second of a Thursday doubleheader.

The Lakers (16-5) were swept in doubles action, with Leah Dancz/Kali Phillips and Morgan Patterson/Aimee Moccia dropping the No. 1 and No. 3 match by scores of 8-3.

Grand Valley State picked up both wins in singles action. Dancz took the win in the No. 1 position after winning the first set 7-5, and was trailing in the second set 3-1 when her opponent was forced to withdraw due to injury. In the No. 3 singles position, Carola Orna improved her 2014-15 record to 18-3 and 14-2 in dual meets with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.

GVSU concludes their Spring Break trip on Saturday when they head to Deland, Fla. to take on Division I Stetson at noon.
