Women's Tennis Takes Down Missouri-St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – In their first game since returning from Florida, the 39th-ranked Grand Valley State women's team cruised to an 8-1 victory over Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday (Mar. 14) at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Tennis Center.
 
The Lakers, who also rank third in the Midwest Region in the most recent ITA Regional rankings, improve to 17-6 overall with the victory, while the loss gives the Tritons a 2-5 record on the season.
 
Grand Valley State swept the doubles competition, with Leah Dancz/Kali Phillips picking up the biggest win of the three, taking the No. 1 match 8-4.
 
All five of GVSU's singles wins came in straight sets, with only Dancz needing a tiebreaker in the first set of the No. 1 match (7-6 [8-6], 6-0). Phillips won by the largest margin of the day, winning her No. 3 match 6-2, 6-2.
 
Grand Valley State hits the courts again tomorrow (Mar. 15) when they travel to Saint Charles, Missouri to take on Lindenwood at noon.
