Lacrosse Sweeps GLIAC Player Of The Week Honors

ALLENDALE, MICH. – Two Grand Valley State women's lacrosse players were selected by the GLIAC as the league's Players of the Week. Ella Boose was the offensive pick, and Quinn McElroy earned the defensive nod.
 
Grand Valley State senior midfielder Ella Boose was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, earning the honor for the first time in her career. Boose notched 10 points across two Laker conference wins, adding eight draw controls, and four groundballs. Boose started the weekend by scoring a career-high six goals in the 9-4 victory over Northern Michigan, including the one that would turn out to be the game-winner. The Brighton, Michigan native surpassed 100 career points in the game, as she also picked up three draw controls and a groundball. In Sunday's 7-4 win over Concordia-St. Paul, Boose totaled two goals, two assists, five draw controls, and three groundballs. This season, she leads the Lakers in points (29), goals (20), and draw controls (27).
 
For the first time in her tenure as a Laker, Grand Valley State junior defender Quinn McElroy was named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. McElroy was a key force on the Laker defensive line that held both Northern Michigan and Concordia-St. Paul to four goals apiece. She totaled five groundballs and five caused turnovers over the two GVSU victories. The Lake Orion, Michigan native had two groundballs and caused two turnovers in the 9-4 victory over Northern Michigan. She was a main part of the defensive effort that helped hold the nation's leading scorer to only one point on eight shot attempts. On Sunday, McElroy caused three turnovers and picked up three groundballs in the Lakers' 7-4 win against CSP. She currently leads GVSU with 22 groundballs and 19 caused turnovers.
