Last weekend, GVSU completed two home sweeps to move them to 12-3 overall and 7-1 in GLIAC play. They took down Roosevelt and Parkside in straight sets, extending their winning streak to three games. Kendall Stover had a historic weekend, tallying 24 kills on a .489 hitting percentage, adding 20 digs, two blocks, and one service ace. The 24 kills put her over 1,000 for her career and helped earn her GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. In the 2024 Crossover Tournament, GVSU went 3-0, defeating Walsh, Lewis, and UMSL, with Meghan O'Sullivan being named to the All-Tournament team.

Also at 12-3 is the first opponent of the weekend, the Cedarville Yellow Jackets out of the GMAC. Ranked third in their conference, the Yellow Jackets saw their nine-game winning streak come to an end last Saturday, losing to Ohio Dominican. Cedarville leads the GMAC in points per set (18.2), blocks per set (2.69), and service aces per set (1.94). They are led offensively by Madelyn Hensley, who is second in the conference in points at 4.56 and third with 3.84 kills per set. They also two of the top three blockers in Haley Koch and Janae Heegaard, along with setter Kaley Matney, who is third in the GMAC with 10.5 assists per set. The Lakers and Yellow Jackets have not played since their only ever meeting, back in 2017, which the Lakers won in straight sets.

For the fourth consecutive season, the Lakers will take on Lewis in the Crossover Tournament. A perennial Midwest power, the Flyers have started slower this year than usual, entering the Crossover at 10-8 overall and 3-3 in the GLVC. The Flyers have one of the best defenses in the GLVC, leading the league in opponent hitting percentage (.154), while ranking second in blocks per set (2.31) and second in digs per set (19.03). Emma O'Neill and Sarah Newberry are third and fifth in the league in blocks per set, each averaging over one block. Four Flyers have over 130 kills this year, led by Lauren Buxton's 175. Last season, GVSU beat the Flyers in four sets, winning sets one, two, and four. Meghan O'Sullivan had a 12-kill, 31-assist, and 11-dig triple-double, while Brianna Stawski added 12 kills and three blocks.
