ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's volleyball team picked up two more victories during day two of the Hampton Inn and Suites Grand Rapids Downtown Classic. The Lakers swept both Post and Cedarville, moving to 6-1 this season.
In the opening match against the Eagles of Post, GVSU took care of business with relative ease, trailing only once the entire set, winning 25-14, 25-18, and 25-12.
Sara Pahl led the way with 11 kills on a .474 hitting percentage, also adding a team-high six digs.
Kate Goudreau recorded nine kills, with
Paige Sanders totaling seven, hitting .667.
Gabby Orlet had 22 assists, while
Caroline Baker distributed 19.
Sydney Stanfield served four of the Lakers' 11 aces in the match.
Rounding out the night was a game against regional foe Cedarville. After a tough first set in which the Lakers pulled out 25-22, GVSU won the next two with ease, 25-15 and 25-10.
Kennedy Arp had a big night, registering 10 kills, swinging at a .563 clip. Sanders totaled nine more kills, hitting .692, while
Brianna Stawski,
Grace Busold, and Finely Arp each had six kills. Orlet directed the offense with 35 assists and
Lexi Armstrong had 14 digs from her libero spot.
