Swim and Dive Team Broke 13 Pool Records On Senior Day

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Lakers had an impressive afternoon, breaking 13 pool records. Both the men's and women's teams picked up another win.

The GVSU swim and dive team honored 14 seniors today for their hard work and dedication over the past four years.

The women's team defeated the University of Findlay, 223 to 69. Senior Kayley Gallagher touched the wall at 10:43.54 to take first place for the Lakers. Senior Alysa Wager broke a pool record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.41 to take first place.

Lucy Hedley set three pool records in the events she competed in: the 50-yard freestyle (23.36), 200-yard freestyle (1:48.83), and 500-yard freestyle (4:53.72).

Vittoria Proietti also broke two pool records for the Lakers, setting new marks in the 100-yard backstroke (56.23) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:59.83).

The women's 200 medley relay kicked off the day with a bang, breaking the pool record! The relay team—Vittoria Proietti, Sara Alvarez, Alysa Wager, and Kiersten Harmon—touched the wall at 1:43.45. Later, the 400-yard freestyle relay team set a new school record with a time of 3:26.72. The team consisted of Harmon, Frick, Angilletta, and Hedley.

Senior Maddie Kooistra swept the boards, taking first place in both the 1-meter (289.58) and 3-meter (264.23) dives.

The men defeated U-Findlay 205 to 83. Raul Briceno took first place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:29.01.

Senior Matt Bosch touched the wall at 43.95 in the 100 freestyle to take first, and also won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:36.73. Both are pool records.

Senior Aaron Dies broke a pool record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 48.49, he claimed first for the Lakers.

Senior Thomas Zoldowski took first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:47.82. Right behind him were Anton Rauch and senior Will Herwig.

The men's 200-yard medley relay also broke the pool record with a time of 1:28.48, taking first place. The team consisted of Aaron Dies, Andrew Goh, Esteban Nunez Del Prado, and Evan Scotto DiVetta. The men's 400-yard freestyle relay was just shy of breaking the pool record but still claimed first place with a time of 2:58.84. The relay team included Scotto DiVetta, Christoffel, Goh, and Bosch.

Carter Wood won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with scores of 300.15 and 280.05, respectively, for the Lakers.
