GVSU Swim & Dive Completed Day Two Of The NCAA DII National Championship

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The Grand Valley State Lakers completed day two of the 2026 NCAA DII National Championship. The women's swim and dive team is currently sitting in eighth place with 111 points, right behind Findlay Oilers (128.5). The men's team is currently in ninth place with 91 points, just behind Wingate Bulldogs (92). The Lakers recorded seven top-16 finishes.

Keiran Rahmaan touched the wall at 47.54 to take 14th place in the 100 fly. Katie O'Connell finished prelims with the top seed heading into the finals. O'Connell touched the wall at 4:18.22 to take bronze for the Lakers. Vittoria Proietti was seeded fifth in the 400 IM going into the finals and finished with a time of 4:18.69 to take fourth place for the Lakers, adding points to their overall team score.

Lucy Hedley finished first in the prelims to earn the top seed heading into the finals. Hedley touched the wall at 1:46.88 to bring home bronze for the Lakers. A year ago at the  2025 NCAA Division II National Championship, Hedley finished fourth, and this year she returned to take home the bronze medal.

Emi Goto and Olivia Kutschel finished in the top 16 in the 3-meter dive. Kutsche placed 14th with a score of 407.50. Goto placed 15th with scores of 404.20. Both divers earned Honorable Mention All-American honors.

Vittoria Proietti, Liv Geiger, Avery Rottier, and Lucy Hedley were members of the 400 medley relay and they touched the wall at 3:45.91 to take 14th place.

Mahmoud Abdelkarim, Andrew Goh, Keiran Rahmaan, and Evan Scotto DiVetta were members of the 400 medley relay team, placing in the top eight with a seventh-place finish and a time of 3:10.13.

The Lakers return to action Friday, March 13th at 11:00 am EST for the third day of the NCAA DII National Championship.
