Both Swim & Dive Teams Sitting In Eighth Place After Day 3

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The Grand Valley State Lakers wrapped up day three with a national runner-up finish and seven top-16 finishes. The women's swim and dive team is currently sitting in eighth place with 154 points, just behind Findlay Oilers (197.5). The men's team is also in eighth place with 128 points, just behind Wingate (135).

Raul Briceno touched the wall at 4:25.25 to take 13th place for the Lakers, earning Honorable Mention All-American honors.

Vittoria Proietti broke her own school record in the prelims and then did it again during the final session in the 100 back. She touched the wall at 54.60 to finish runner-up for the Lakers and add points to their overall score and was named an All-American.

Mahmoud Abdelkarim placed seventh in the 100 back with a time of 46.85, helping score points for the Lakers. Andrew Goh touched the wall at 54.22 to take 12th place for the Lakers. Abdelkarim and Goh were named an All-American and Honorable Mention All-American. 

Matthew Bommel finished 13th with a score of 482.95 in the 3-meter dive, earning Honorable Mention All-American honors.

Lucy Hedley, Ana Villamil, Samara Zeinert, and Avery Rottier were all members of the 200 free relay that finished sixth with a time of 1:31.97. They were all named All-Americans and scored points for the Lakers. At the 2025 NCAA DII National Championship, this relay finished 18th. 

Ali Usama, Mahmoud Abdelkarim, Carsyn Christoffel, and Thomas Ferguson touched the wall at 1:19.16 to take 11th for the Lakers. They were all named Honor Mention All-Americans and they scored points for the men's side.

The Lakers return to action Saturday, March 14th at 11:00 am EST for the last day of action at the NCAA DII National Championship.
