The Men's and Women's Teams Both Take Home A Win At The Calvin Winter Invite.

Grand Rapids, Mich.-  The Lakers close out the Calvin Winter Invite on Saturday, December 7th. The men's and women's teams both had multiple school records and pool records broken over the weekend. Both men's and women's teams took first place.

On the men's side, Jon Kantzenbach touched the wall at 15:226.85in the men's 1650 free to take first place. This was the top mile time this season at the Venema Aquatic Center. 

Will Herwig took second place in the men's 200 back with a time of 1:46.27. Three other Lakers touched the wall to take third, fourth, and fifth. 

Matt Bosch takes home first place in the men's 100 yard free and breaks his own pool record with a time of 43.01. Evan Scotto DiVetta took second place.

Andrew Goh grabbed first place in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:57.39 to help the Lakers. Esteban Nuñez Del Prado took third place. 

Ammar Eltaranisy touched the wall at 1:50.13 in the 200 yard fly to take second place to help the men's side. 

Matt Bosch, Carsyn Christoffel, Esteban Nuñez Del Prado, Evan Scotto DiVetta took first in the 400 free relay with a time of 2:54.77 and broke the pool record. 

Matthew Blommel took second place with a score of 461.75 in the 1 mtr Dive. Corey Shade placed third with a score of 446.90.

The women had a great weekend in day 3 of competition, Vittoria Proietti broke the school record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:58.73 and took first place.

Lucy Hedley touched the wall for the Lakers at 50.14 in the 100 yard freestyle to take second. 

Sara Alvarez took first place in the 200 yard breast with a time of 2:14.82 and broke the pool record. Live Geiger took second place 

Alysa Wager took first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:03.37 and right behind her taking second place was Kelly Shortall with a time of 2:06.16. Gaia Tomaselli took third. 

Angelica Angilletta, Kiersten Harmon, Katie O'Connell, Annabelle Williams took fourth in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:27.30.  

Maddie Kooistra took first place overall in the Calvin Winter Invitational with a score of 478.95 in the 3 mtr. Dive. Olivia Kutsche took third place. 

The Lakers will head to Fort Pierce for a winter trip to compete against Indian River State College on December 20th, 2024. More information to follow!
