BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Grand Valley State men's and women's track and field teams concluded action at the annual WKU Hilltopper Relays on Saturday. GVSU met a handful of NCAA DII Provisional marks in various throws and sprints events.
Friday's field events saw a few top-five finishes, including
Erika Lechner (13.35m; 3rd) and
Elizabeth Pyles (12.66m;4th) in the shot put.
Jenna Doyle cleared 1.60m in the high jump, making her debut in the outdoor season, good for fourth-place.
On the track, freshman
Ashley Perryman earned a third-place finish in the 100m (12.25) and fifth-place time in the 200m (24.57). Senior
Nicole Sreenan met a provisional time in the 400m with a gold medal finish of 53.74 seconds, while
Jessica Eby defeated the 400H competition as she crossed the line in 1:00.15. The women's 4x100m team comprised of Perryman, Sreenan, Eby and
Angelica Floyd took first with a time of 47.10.
The men began action in the hammer throw, as
Hunter Harding (60.08m) and
Justin Scavarda (56.67) met provisional distances with a 1-2 finish. Scavarda met another provisional mark (51.18m; 1
st) in the discus throw, as freshman
Myles Kerner defeated the shot put field with a provisional distance of 17.14m.
Ryan Mount (2.00m) and
Eli Kosiba (1.95m) finished first and second, respectively in the high jump.
Jackson Blanchard (51.16) and
Daniel Walker (51.27) punched 1-2 times in the 400H with provisional qualifications. The men's 4x400m team of Walker,
Jaylen Hasan,
Alexander Porter and Blanchard swept the field with a finish of 3:15.93.
GVSU returns to action next weekend in Michigan and Kentucky, before opening outdoor action at home the following weekend (April 16-17).
