ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State volleyball team returns home for the first time since Oct. 12 this weekend as they take on a pair of GLIAC foes in Parkside (Nov. 8) and Purdue Northwest (Nov. 9). First serve will begin at 7:00 on Friday followed by Senior Day on Saturday at 4:00 P.M. Frankie Cavallaro and Kendall Yerkes will be honored prior to Saturday's match vs. PNW.

The Lakers, currently 12-11 overall and 7-5 in GLIAC play, are winners of four straight after a 3-1 win over Davenport on Saturday (Nov. 2). Individually, three Lakers recorded 14 or more kills. Redshirt freshman Emma Clines had 17 kills with a .412 attack percentage, freshman Jaeli Primus tallied 16 kills with a .640 percentage and seven blocks, and sophomore Ali Thompson posted a double-double with 14 kills and 16 digs. Freshman setter Rachel Jacquay recorded 49 assists and Yerkes had 14 digs. For her efforts, Primus was named GLIAC Player of the Week on Monday (Nov. 5).

The GLIAC standings remain with Michigan Tech (11-1), Ashland (11-2), Ferris State (11-2), and Saginaw Valley (9-4) holding the top four spots, while GVSU is one in a half games behind SVSU. The Lakers are fighting to get into the fourth position with four GLIAC games remaining as the top-four seeds host the first round of the GLIAC Tournament. The GLIAC Tournament will begin Wednesday Nov. 20.

GVSU leads the GLIAC in total blocks as a team with 200, while Primus leads the GLIAC individually with 104 total blocks (1.18). The Hudsonville, Mich. native also ranks sixth in attack percentage (.315). Yerkes is second in the conference in service aces per set (0.35) and fourth in digs at 351, Jacquay is eighth in assists per set (9.34), and Thompson is sixth in services aces per set (0.32).

vs. Wisconsin-Parkside – Friday, November 8 (7:00 PM)

The Rangers limp into Allendale with a five-game losing streak. Parkside began the GLIAC season 2-1 but have since dropped nine out of their last 10 conference matches and find themselves in jeopardy of making the GLIAC Tournament. GVSU defeated UWP 3-0 back on Oct. 5 in Kenosha, Wis.

Rachel Hedman leads Parkside in kills with 265 and also is second on the team in digs per set at 2.46. UWP ranks in the bottom half of the GLIAC in nearly every statistical category besides total blocks in which they rank fourth and trail GVSU by 16.

GVSU owns the all-time series over the Rangers, 11-6.

vs. Purdue Northwest – Saturday, November 9 (4:00 PM)

The Pride are seeking their first conference win of the season. PNW, who is 3-23 overall, owns two wins over NAIA schools and a win over Alderson Broaddus at the Midwest Region Crossover this season. GVSU defeated the Pride 3-0 on Oct. 4 which extended their losing streak to 10 matches.

Similarly to Parkside, Purdue Northwest ranks in the lower half of the conference in every statistical category. Annie Pulizos leads PNW with 205 kills and 68 total blocks.
