The Grand Valley State women's tennis team will make its way across the Mackinac Bridge this weekend as they are set to take on Lake Superior State (1-3 overall, 1-3 GLIAC) on Saturday (Oct. 6) at 10 a.m., followed by another contest against Michigan Tech (4-1 overall, 3-1 GLIAC) on Sunday, Oct 7 with first serve starting at 10 a.m.

GVSU heads to the U.P. this weekend with a 3-0 record having won 16 of 18 singles matches, while going 8-1 in doubles play against GLIAC opponents.
Madison Ballard and
Vera Griva lead the way for the Lakers in singles play as both hold a 3-0 record, while
Marily Canellopoulos and
Marija Leko are 2-1 in singles.

In doubles, Ballard and
Nicole Heiniger have posted a 2-1 record, while Canellopoulos and Griva hold a 3-0 record. In addition,
Livia Christman and
Liv Hanover have a 2-0 record as a pair.

GVSU begins its trip up north at Lake Superior State on Saturday. LSSU who is 1-3 in conference play have gone 4-14 in singles, and 1-8 record in doubles. AlexiAnn Drouin, the 2017 GLIAC Player of Year leads the way for LSSU in singles and doubles competition with a 4-1 overall singles record, along with a 1-2 doubles record. In doubles, Drouin and Allison Grandfield are 1-2 from the No. 2 pairing.

 Michigan Tech, who is 3-1 in the GLIAC has earned wins against Wayne State, Ashland and Saginaw Valley State. Against GLIAC opponents, the Huskies hold a 15-9 singles record and are 6-6 in doubles matches. The Huskies also have three players that hold a 3-1 singles record when facing conference including Jessica Brown, Mirna Golac and Anabella Neri. In doubles, the duo of Brown and Ivona Gorgioski are 3-1, while Samantha Johnson and Vicky Quinde are 2-2.
