Results

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Fifth-seed Grand Valley State women's tennis 2015-16 season comes to a close after suffering a narrow 5-4 defeat to first-seed Drury on Sunday in the second round of the 2016 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament.

Ranked 37th in Division II, Grand Valley State ends their season with a 24-7 record after the loss to the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region and the 20th-ranked team in the country.

The Lakers pulled ahead of the Panthers (19-3) 2-1 after winning two doubles matches. Abby Perkins/Livia Chrisman won match No. 3 8-2, and Alexa Sweeney/Madison Ballard won match No. 2 (8-5) to give GV an early lead heading into singles competition.

Unfortunately, the Lakers couldn't keep up their momentum from doubles competition as they only won two matches in singles play. Christman won the No. 4 match (6-1, 6-1) and Samantha Schrepferman took match No. 6 (6-3, 6-2). The deciding match came down to Sweeney in the No. 2 flight, where unfortunately she was defeated 7-6, 6-2.
