GVSU and Wayne State have two of the top three win totals of any team in the GLIAC this season. The Lakers enter Tuesday with a 16-6 overall record and a 2-1 league mark. WSU is 18-13 overall and 2-0 in GLIAC action.

Over the weekend, Grand Valley State won two of three road games at Malone and Walsh in less than desirable weather conditions. GVSU held off Malone 12-9 after taking a 9-0 lead midway through the game. The second game of that doubleheader was postponed due to the weather and could be rescheduled later in the season.
Sunday's twinbill at Walsh ended in a split, as the Cavaliers took the opener, 4-0, and GVSU rebounded for the 1-0 win in the nightcap. Sophomore outfielder
Janae Langs tallied a one-out walk-off single to provide the game's only run, while freshman righty
Courtney Reinhold tossed her second career shutout.
The Lakers have alternated wins and losses in their last 11 games. Last Thursday in the team's home opener, Grand Valley State split with visiting Aquinas. GVSU won game one, 8-0, before Aquinas notched a 5-4 victory in game two.
Tuesday's twinbill is part of a current eight-game homestand for the Lakers. This Friday and Saturday (Apr. 3-4), GVSU will host Ashland and Lake Erie, respectively. Next Tuesday's (Apr. 7) doubleheader against Lake Superior State - originally scheduled for Sault Ste. Marie - has been moved to Allendale due to poor weather in the Upper Peninsula.
After starting the season with a 12-13 record, Wayne State has won six consecutive games, including a road sweep at Ashland on Sunday. The Warriors topped the Eagles, 3-2 and 9-6.
Last season, Wayne State won the Midwest Regional championship and advanced to the NCAA World Series. The previous year, Grand Valley State did the same, earning the Midwest Region title by winning the Midwest Super Regional best-of-three series at #1 Indianapolis before finishing as one of the final four teams in the country at the College World Series in Salem, Va.
