Eight Lakers Earn All-GLIAC Honors

ALLENDALE - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the softball postseason awards Wednesday afternoon. Eight Lakers were named to the All-GLIAC teams with two named on the first team, four to the second team, and two earning honorable mention plaudits.

Freshman infielder Camryn Hall and senior outfielder Eliana Eiland earned first team honors. Hall led GVSU and ranked third in the GLIAC with a .432 batting average. Hall ranked first in the conference with 70 hits in the regular season while notching 38 runs scored, 19 RBI, seven doubles, and 13 stolen bases. In the field, Hall has appeared and started in 49 games all at shortstop posting over a .960 fielding percentage. Eiland is hitting a career best .329 this season with 47 hits, 24 runs scored, 22 RBI, and a team leading four triples. EIland launched a home run last week on the road against Purdue Northwest, driving home a total of four runs in the win. Eliana has appeared and started in 47 games all in center field this season and has thrown out seven runners on the base paths. 

Four Lakers represented the second team, with Karli Dorr, Faith Edwards, Grace Usher, and Elizabeth Wesoloski all earning a spot. Sophomore pitcher Karli Dorr has been named to the second team for the second straight year. Dorr has made 20 appearances in the circle posting a team leading 2.26 ERA which ranks third in the GLIAC. Dorr has struck out 117 batters which also ranks third in the conference this season. She tossed her first collegiate no-hitter in the home game one doubleheader win against Parkside. Junior outfielder Faith Edwards has earned second team honors for the second consecutive year. Edwards has notched a .315 batting average and ranks second on GVSU with a .420 on-base percentage. Edwards leads GVSU with 10 doubles and 25 walks while having 45 hits, 30 runs scored, and 17 RBI. Sophomore utility player Grace Usher is hitting .340 on the season ranking second on the team. Usher leads GVSU with 35 RBI and three home runs while ranking second with 55 hits. Senior catcher Elizabeth Wesoloski is named to the second team for her second straight season at GVSU after hitting .301 in the regular season with 44 hits, 24 RBI, and five doubles.

Freshman infielder Kylee Hoebeke and junior outfielder Jasmine Mauk earned honorable mention plaudits. Hoebeke hit .293 in the regular season and is second on GVSU with 33 RBI. Hoebeke is tied for the team lead with three home runs and drove in a career high eight RBI in the game two doubleheader win at Roosevelt. Mauk has hit .429 in conference play with two doubles and seven RBI. On the season, Mauk has scored 14 runs and has drivin in 12 runs.
