Live Stats ALLENDALE, Mich. - Grand Valley State women's lacrosse goes back to work on Thursday (Mar. 26) when they welcome Fort Lewis College to GVSU Lacrosse/Track & Field Stadium at 7 p.m.
The Lakers (3-4) are coming off a disappointing 14-5 loss to #3 Lindenwood on Tuesday, and look to get back to their winning ways before heading off for a four-game road trip starting on Tuesday, April 1 at Wheeling Jesuit.
Leading the Laker offense are a pair of sophomore midfielders,
Erika Neumen and
Ryan Skomial. Neumen, who scored four of the team's five goals against Lindenwood, leads the team in scoring with 25 goals and in points with 28, while Skomial leads with nine assists on the year.
Also leading the way for the Lakers are
Carolyn Kraus with 25 draw control wins,
Kelly Leibovitz with 16 ground balls, and
Alyssa Neumen with six caused turnovers. In goal,
Sarah Zwilsky has started every game and played every minute for the Lakers, making 46 saves and twice stopping 11 saves in a game.
For the Skyhawks (5-1), their offense is led by juniors Sarah McMahon and Ellie Carpenter. Carpenter, a midfielder, leads the team in points (16) and is tied for second on the team in goals (11) and assists (5), and defender McMahon leads the team with 14 goals and is second with 15 points. Carpenter also leads the team in ground balls (17), draw controls (11), and caused turnovers (8).
As for who will start in goal for Fort Lewis, it will be between sophomore Brie Walker and junior Alyssa Spencer. Walker has played in all six games this season and started in three, owning a 4-0 record with 14 saves and a goals-against average of 5.58, while Spencer has made two starts on the year, owning a 1-1 record with 17 saves and a 7.50 goals-against average.
