ALLENDALE, MICH. – Three members of the Grand Valley State women's lacrosse team earned postseason honors from the IWLCA.
Ella Boose,
Quinn McElroy, and
Karleigh Rothe were all named to the Midwest All-Region team as second-team selections. This is the first All-Region honor for each of the three players.
Named the GLIAC Midfielder of the Year,
Ella Boose put together her best season as a Laker. The senior totaled 73 points on 60 goals and 13 assists, totaling 11 hat tricks, with eight games with four or more goals. She led the team with 68 draw controls and picked up 33 groundballs. Boose was twice named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week and earned a First-Team All-GLIAC spot.
On the backline,
Karleigh Rothe earns her first all-region nod after being voted GLIAC Defender of the Year. Rothe totaled 40 caused turnovers and 28 groundballs, ranking third and second on the team. A member of the GLIAC All-Tournament team, Rothe had 11 games with multiple groundballs, including a career-high five at CSP. She posted eight games with multiple caused turnovers, helping her earn GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week on two occasions.
Right beside Rothe on the defensive side was
Quinn McElroy. The junior had a team-high 33 caused turnovers, setting a new program single-season record. Her 43 groundballs were one off the team lead as well. The First-Team All-GLIAC selection tallied 14 games with multiple groundballs, along with 12 games causing two or more turnovers. Selected once as the league's Defensive Player of the Week, McElroy was one of three Lakers to start and play in all 20 contests this season.
