Tiffin ResultsDavenport ResultsALLENDALE, Mich./GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Valley State women's tennis completed a busy Saturday on the courts, beating Tiffin 6-3 in a conference match while beating NAIA power Davenport 7-2. With the two wins on the day, GVSU improves to 8-0 overall and maintains their lead over the GLIAC with a 7-0 record against conference opponents.
Against the Dragons (5-3, 3-4 GLIAC), the Lakers jumped out to a 2-1 lead thanks to doubles wins by

Alexa Sweeney and
Abby Perkins/
Livia Christman. Ballard/Sweeney won 8-1 in the No. 2 match, while Perkins/Christman battled to win the No. 3 match 9-7.
In singles competition, GVSU earned four points to take the match. Sweeney won the No. 2 match (6-3, 6-4),
Aimee Moccia fought hard to win the No. 3 match (6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8)), Christman breezed past her opponent in the No. 4 match (6-2, 6-0), and
Rachel Sumner won the fifth and final singles match for Grand Valley State (6-1, 6-4).
GVSU swept the Panthers (1-1) in doubles competition. Sumner/Moccia won the No. 1 match 8-4, Ballard/Sweeney won match No. 2 8-3, and
Samantha Schrepferman/
Katarina Samardzija won the No. 3 match 8-2.
Davenport took the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, but Grand Valley State won matches three through six – all in straight sets – to earn the win. Ballard won the No. 3 match 6-4, 7-5, while Samardzija won 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 4 match.
Nicole Heiniger won match No. 5 6-0, 6-1, and
Calla Ramont won the No. 6 match 6-1, 6-1 to give the Lakers their second win of the afternoon.
GVSU closes out their busy weekend with a home match against Findlay (0-7, 0-7 GLIAC) on Sunday (Oct. 4) at 10 am.
