ASHLAND, Ohio – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team concluded their two-day stay in the Buckeye State with a 9-0 shutout victory over Ashland on Sunday (Oct. 11). With the win, Grand Valley State locks up the number one seed in the 2015 GLIAC Tournament as they improve to 11-0 overall and 10-0 in the conference.
Grand Valley State blanked the Eagles (2-8, 2-8 GLIAC) with ease in doubles competition, giving up three or fewer points in all three matches. No. 1 pairing

In singles play, Grand Valley State cruised to two-set wins in four of the six matches. Perkins was leading 2-1 in the first set of the first match before her opponent retired, and Moccia came back from being one set down to win the No. 3 match (3-6, 6-3, 11-9). The other matches were all won in two sets: Sweeney won 6-0, 6-1 in match No. 2, Christman won match No. 4 6-0, 6-2, Sumner also won 6-0, 6-2 in match No. 5, and Ballard won match no. 6 6-1, 6-0.
The Lakers return home for their final match of the regular season on Thursday (Oct. 15) against Ferris State (6-3, 6-3 GLIAC).
