NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The march to the 2015 GLIAC Women's Tennis Tournament rolls on as Grand Valley State cruised to a 7-2 victory over conference opponent Walsh on Saturday (Oct. 10).
The quest for an undefeated season continues for Grand Valley State, as the win improves the team's record to 10-0 overall and 9-0 against GLIAC opposition. As for the Cavaliers, the loss drops their record to 3-6 overall and in the conference. Today's win also clinches at least a berth in the GLIAC Tournament, as the Lakers look to clinch the top seed in the tournament with two games left on the schedule.
The Lakers opened the day by going 2-1 in doubles competition to jump to an early lead. GVSU scored points from

In singles play, the Lakers went 6-1 to lock up their 10
th win of the season. Sweeney won the No. 2 match in two sets (6-1, 6-0),
Aimee Moccia won the No. 3 match in a tiebreaker set (4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6)), Christman won in two sets (6-0, 7-6 (7-5)) in the No. 4 set,
Rachel Sumner won match No. 5 in two sets (6-1, 6-0), and Ballard won the No. 6 match in two sets (6-1, 6-2).
GVSU is back on the courts on Sunday (Oct. 11) when the Lakers close their regular season road schedule against Ashland (2-8, 2-7 GLIAC). Grand Valley State closes the regular season at home on Thursday (Oct. 15) against Ferris State (6-3, 6-3 GLIAC) at 4 pm.
