#5 Laker Men Defeat #15 Nova Southeastern In S&D Action

#10 Laker Women Fall At #11 Nova Southeastern

The Grand Valley State men's and women's swimming and diving teams split a pair of dual meets that featured a pair of nationally-ranked teams Saturday afternoon. The #5 Laker men defeated #15 Nova Southeastern 107-98, while #11 Nova Southeastern claimed a 115-90 win over #10 GVSU in women's action.

Grand Valley State entered the final event (200 free) of the men's dual with a 96-92 advantage and needed to finish first to claim the win. Danny Abbott, Nick Zacek, Nate Wagner and Nate Stoller did just that with a first-place finishing time of 1:25.03. The 200 medley relay team of Gianni Ferrero, Milan Medo, Stoller and Abbott touched second in a time of 1:32.62 to open the meet. Michael Hudson touched second in the 1000 free (9:50.20), followed by Tristan Comerford in third (9:53.21). Ferrero touched first in th 200 free (1:41.74) and Wagner was third (1:45.35). Abbott touched second in the 50 free (21.12), while Stoller was fourth (22.17). Medo finished first in th 100 IM (50.70) and Grant Borregard was fourth (55.22). 

Sven Kardol recorded a first-place finish in the 200 fly (1:54.99) and Gonzalo Rodriguez was fourth (2:00.01). GVSU went 2-3-4 in the 100 free as Medo touched in 46.96, John Eber 47.18 and Wagner in 47.39. The Lakers went 1-2-4 in the 200 back led by Joseba Hidalgo-Vilela (1:56.59). Borregard was second (1:57.05) and Hudson was fourth (1:58.95). Ferrero added a first-place finish in the 500 free (4:32.13), while Comerford was third (4:50.47) and Zacek fourth (4:51.81). Kardol was fourth in the 200 breast (2:14.09). 

GVSU took a second and a third in the 200 medley relay. Meghan Falconer, Emily Gallagher, Hannah Deak and Jenn Priebe touched second (1:51.56), while Lauren Foor, Kathryn Culver, Emily Toro and Faith Bart finished third in 1:55.25. Freshman Sam Postmus continued her outstanding season with a first-place finish in the 1000 free (10:29.31), while Julia Suriano touched third (10:56.31) and Natalie Rembisz fourth (11:01.80). Postmus added a second-place finish in the 200 free (1:54.37), followed by Olivia Schultz in third (1:59.50). 

Sarah Roeser touched second in the 50 free (24.50), while Culver was third (25.54) and Priebe fourth (25.90). Emily Eaton finished first in the 100 IM with a time of 1:01.10, followed by Gallagher in fourth (1:03.49). Roeser added a second-place finish in the 100 free (53.91). Schultz recorded a second-place finish in the 200 back (2:10.39), while Falconer was third (2:11.85) and Suiano fourth (2:13.42). Postmus recorded another first-place finish when she touched first in the 500 free (5:11.41) and Rembisz was third (5:22.90). Gallagher touched second in the 200 breast (2:30.69) and Toro was fourth (2:36.94). 

The Lakers' 200 free relay team of Roeser, Culver, Schultz and Eaton touched second (1:38.15), followed by Bart, Deak, Foor and Lia Nagata in third (1:44.08).
