Swim & Dive Finished Day One With Three Top-8 Finishes

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The men's and women's teams wrapped up day two with the women sitting in ninth place (53 points), trailing Wingate (55), while the men are in seventh place (64 points), just two points behind Findlay. The Lakers recorded three top-eight finishes across individual and relay events.

Evan Scotto DiVetta swam a 19.81 in the 50 free to take seventh place for the Lakers and was named an All-American for his finish. Raul Briceno touched the wall at 9:11.02 to place 18th in the 1000 free.

Katie O'Connell touched the wall at 10:03.08 to finish in the top eight, placing sixth in the 1000 free. With this finish, she was named an All-American. Matthew Blommel finished 15th in the 1-meter dive with a score of 427.50 and was named an Honorable Mention All-American.

The 200 medley relay team touched the wall at 1:42.64 to take 13th place. Members of the relay included Vittoria Proietti, Liv Geiger, Avery Rottier, and Ana Villamil. All members of this relay earned honorable mention All-American honors. 

Mahmoud Abdelkarim, Andrew Goh, Keiran Rahmaan, and Evan Scotto DiVetta finished the 200 medley relay with a new school record time of 1:25.07, placing sixth. Scotto DiVetta recorded an 18.89 split, setting a new all-time GLIAC conference record. Members of this relay team earned All-American honors. 

Schedule of events for Thursday 3/12: 100 Fly, 400 IM, 200 Free, women's 3-meter dive, and the 400 medley relay.
