GRAND HAVEN, MICH. – The Grand Valley State men's golf team got their 2026-27 underway with the first 18 holes at the Folds of Honor Collegiate. After the conclusion of day one, the Lakers are in 10
th with 36 holes to play.
Results
Georgia Tech had a big first day, leading by seven strokes with a score of twelve under. In second is Michigan State at -5, followed by Notre Dame at four under, Kansas in fourth at -1, and in fifth is reigning back-to-back champion Alabama at one over. The Lakers shot +6, just a couple shots out of eighth.
Leading the way for GVSU is freshman
Nicolas Vincent. Vincent shot a 69 (-2) with four birdies to finish in a tie for eighth.
Ryan Gallagher carded a 72 (+1) with three birdies, ending in a tie for 28
th. Making one birdie in his round of 74 (+3) was
Finley Dober, who is tied for 47
th.
Maverick Conaway is tied for 56
th at four over following his round of 75.
Jack Whitmore made two birdies in his round of 82.
The Lakers will tee off tomorrow morning at 9:15, still paired with Air Force and Cincinnati.
