ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's lacrosse team begins GLIAC Tournament play Friday afternoon, hosting Davenport in the semifinal round. The Lakers and Panthers will square off for the third time this season.

GVSU concluded the regular season on Sunday, defeating Saginaw Valley State 21-1. After the two teams were tied at one early on, the Lakers closed the game with the final 20 tallies.
Gracie Bancroft had a career-high six scores and
Ella Boose added five. The Laker defense allowed only four shots, and the Cardinals had 29 turnovers, going only 8-27 on clears.
That win capped off a perfect 8-0 GLIAC regular season record and was their 10
th consecutive victory. The Lakers won their 13
th conference title in program history, earning the top seed in the tournament. GVSU is looking to win the 10
th GLIAC Tournament title in their history this weekend.
In the two meetings earlier this season between GVSU and DU, the Lakers came away victorious. At home, Grand Valley State took the game 11-8. With GVSU leading 10-4, the Panthers staged a late comeback, getting back within two goals, but could not draw any closer. Bancroft tallied a hat trick, and
Veronica Ziemer netted two goals.
Sarah Krause made seven saves, and
Karleigh Rothe caused three turnovers. The second game, this one played at Davenport, was a much different story. The Lakers jumped all over the Panthers to the tune of an 18-3 victory.
Leah Leonard recorded six goals and Boose added five, with
Emerson Holthouser also garnering a hat trick. Krause and
Maggie O'Neill combined for nine saves in the cage.
After enduring a three-game skid, the Panthers got back in the win column on Friday in their season finale, defeating SVSU 17-6. They finished at 9-8 overall and 3-5 in the conference, losing the tiebreaker to CSP to fall to the four seed. Five Panthers have scored over 20 goals, led by Addison Rae's 37. Gabby Basha leads the team in points at 58, totaling 23 goals and 35 assists. DU leads the conference in caused turnovers per game, generating over 11 a contest, with two players having registered over 30 this season. In the cage, Isabelle Bonillohas played in all 17 games, posting a save percentage of .436 on 140 saves. The Panthers are still looking for their first ever win over GVSU.
The winner of this game will play the winner of the semifinal number two, played between Northern Michigan and Concordia-St. Paul.
