Prior to the game on Sunday, the team will honor 11 seniors who have played a role in the program. Players Ella Boose, Kylie Waeghe, Ainsley Shilling, Jillian Bingman, Gracie Bancroft, Eliana LaMange, Jill Dennison, Grace Maddox, and Sarah Krause will all take part in the ceremony. Additionally, student assistants Gabby Mainhardt and Izzy Imes will also be honored. The ceremony is set to begin at 11:30.

For the 13th time in program history, Grand Valley State is the GLIAC regular season champions. The Lakers took down Davenport last Sunday to clinch the conference outright. It was also their 50th consecutive regular season league victory, dating back to 2019. Before that win, the Lakers defeated Walsh in the final non-conference clash of the year. Over the two games, Ella Boose totaled 12 goals and one assist, adding 10 draw controls and a groundball. Boose scored a career-high seven goals in last Friday's victory over Walsh. The seven goals are tied for the third most ever in a single game in program history. For her efforts, she was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week.

In the first meeting between the two teams, the Lakers dominated, winning 20-4. After leading 9-4 early in the third quarter, GVSU rattled off the final 11 goals of the game to claim the 16-goal victory. Ella Boose scored five times, and Ainsley Shilling added a hat trick. The Laker defense allowed only six shots on goal and the Cardinals turned it over 20 times.

SVSU is in the second year as a program, picking up their first win earlier this season over Northwood, entering Sunday at 1-13 and 0-7 in league play. The Cardinals average less than five goals a contest, reaching double-digits one time. Goalkeeper Mikaila Stone has faced over 400 shots on goal, but she has held her own, posting 188 saves on a .443 save percentage.
