ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's lacrosse team heads into the penultimate week of the regular season, playing at home on Friday, then hitting the road for their final away game of the season on Sunday. The Lakers will play Walsh in a non-conference affair in Allendale on Friday, before traveling to Davenport on Sunday afternoon.

The Lakers are coming off a road weekend sweep up north, defeating Concordia-St. Paul and Northern Michigan. A dominant defensive effort led to the 16-2 win over the Golden Bears.
Sarah Krause recorded a career-high 14 saves, posting a save percentage of .875.

Gracie Bancroft each tallied hat tricks. On Sunday, it was a back-and-forth match with NMU. After GVSU led 6-3 at the half, the Wildcats scored five straight goals to go up 8-6 heading into the fourth. In the final quarter, the Lakers outscored them 3-0 to win 9-8. Boose scored four more times, and Krause saved 12 shots in the victory. The win clinched a share of the GLIAC regular season title, moving them to a perfect 6-0 in league play.
With her 26 saves over the weekend,
Sarah Krause won both GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week and IWLCA National Defensive Player of the week. This was the second of both awards she has won in her career. She has helped the Lakers win seven straight games to get back to .500. On Wednesday, the NCAA released eight teams in contention for the Midwest regional tournament, with the Lakers one of the teams mentioned. Next week, the first regional rankings will be released with the teams being seeded.
On Friday, the Lakers will play Walsh in the final non-conference game of the season. The Cavaliers are under the direction of interim head coach Rachel Black, who has led them to a 5-8 record heading into their final game of the regular season. They have lost three straight games, most recently falling at Malone on Wednesday. On the offensive end, Trinity Stowell has scored 53 goals this season, leading the GMAC and ranking top 20 in the country. Defensively, the Cavaliers have gotten a .326 save percentage from their goalkeepers, allowing 14 goals per contest. This will be the 10
th all-time meeting between GVSU and Walsh, with the Lakers winning all of the previous nine.
In the final road game of the season, GVSU will travel across town for a matchup with Davenport. The third-place team in the GLIAC is 2-4 in the league and 8-7 overall under first year head coach Frank Rogers. The Panther defense has caused almost 12 turnovers a game, ranking 21
st nationally, led by Kacie Stolarek's 3.5 per game. Three players have scored 29 or more goals this season for an offense that scores over 12 goals per contest. In the cage, Isabelle Bonillo has played all but 11 minutes, posting 125 saves and a save percentage of .439. The Panthers are still looking for their first ever win over GVSU, falling in the previous 20 matchups.
