ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Midwest Region will run through Allendale for the third straight year, with the GVSU women's basketball team earning the top seed in the region and the right to host this coming week's tournament.

The Lakers are in the NCAA Tournament for the 11^th straight year, following their win in Sunday's GLIAC Tournament championship game. They are 30-1 this season and enter this weekend having won nine straight games. They have won six regional titles in program history and claimed two National Titles, last season and in the 2005-06 season.
 
Also in the tournament are two-seed Ferris State, three-seeded Northwood, fourth-seeded Wayne State, fifth-seeded Northern Michigan, sixth-seeded Malone, seventh-seeded UMSL, and the eight-seed, and GVSU's opening round opponent, Maryville.
 
Play will begin Friday at 12:00 with the first of four quarterfinal games, scheduled to begin every two and a half hours. Saturday will be the two semifinal games at 5:00 and 7:30. The regional will wrap up Monday night with the championship game at 7:00.
